Job Description
We are seeking a Literacy Coach, Elementary (
* Pool Position) to provide instructional services related to literacy for all students and directly support teachers in implementing the District’s K‑12 Comprehensive Research‑Based Reading Plan at the school level.
Location:
TBD. Hours per day: 7.5. Contract months: 10.
- Provide collegial, job‑embedded support to implement data‑informed, student‑centered, high‑quality literacy instruction.
- Collaborate with school leaders and teachers through co‑teaching, common planning, modeling, reflective conversations, and data sessions to build capacity and improve achievement.
- Deliver professional learning on the major reading components based on analysis of student performance data.
- Administer and analyze instructional assessments, and provide differentiated instruction and intensive interventions.
- Support schools in developing and implementing School Improvement Plans, RTI Plans, and other school‑wide action plans.
- Provide targeted interventions for students via various delivery models aligned with the science of reading and advanced progress monitoring.
- Model effective instructional strategies for whole‑group and small‑group instruction.
- Collect and use data on instructional practices to inform and enhance professional learning activities.
- Ensure teachers implement evidence‑based reading strategies and programs grounded in the science of reading with fidelity.
- Lead literacy leadership teams, PLCs, CPTs, and professional learning sessions tailored to school needs.
- Continuously grow professionally to increase knowledge of effective pedagogy and andragogy.
- Prioritize coaching and mentoring with teachers to impact student achievement in reading.
- Collaborate with school leadership to plan and implement a consistent, evidence‑based reading improvement program with measurable outcomes.
- Participate in the job‑embedded Literacy Coach Endorsement Coursework (completed by the end of the second year).
- Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience in Language Arts, Reading, English, or Elementary Education.
- Possession of or eligibility for a valid regular Florida teaching certificate.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Certification in Reading or a Reading Endorsement.
- Successfully passed the District Instructional Screening Process.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based reading research, English Language Arts standards, and adult learning strategies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, stress management, planning, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and demonstrate flexibility.
- Competence in analyzing data to inform support, decision‑making, response plans, and interventions.
