Casting Engineer

The Silicone Casting Engineering Technician supports the manufacturing and development of silicone and polyurethane components through casting processes. This role combines hands-on production responsibilities with design, process improvement, troubleshooting, quality support, and tooling assistance to ensure efficient operations and high-quality output.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, mix, and cast silicone and polyurethane materials according to engineering and production specifications.
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot molds, tooling, and casting equipment.
  • Support process development activities, including trials, material evaluations, and new product introductions.
  • Monitor casting operations and identify opportunities to improve quality, yield, and production efficiency.
  • Inspect finished products and document quality results in accordance with established standards.
  • Assist engineers with root cause analysis and corrective actions related to casting defects and process deviations.
  • Update and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and production records.
  • Collect and analyze basic process data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Essential Skills
  • Design, engineering, medical device experience.
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Plastics, Polymers, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in silicone, polyurethane, plastics, composites, or related manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with casting, molding, or production processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Experience with Solidworks and CAD.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in medical device, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or consumer product sectors.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects, process validation, or new product launches.
  • Exposure to mold design, tooling, or material testing.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sarasota, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $38.46/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
