Job Title

This position is a highly technical and managerial position focused on the overall operations of the treatment court labs and the employees working in the labs.

Job Description

Performs direct supervision of five (5) lab personnel for Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties and the labs in both counties. Ensures the following duties are carried out: specimen collection, testing, analyzing, recording, and publishing of test results for illicit drugs and alcohol. Ensures all lab procedures are consistent, documented and updated. Ensures machines are safely maintained, setup, adjusted and operated. Responsible for inventory, ordering necessary supplies and testing equipment.

Work with other managers and staff on lab and case management issues. Travel between the labs is expected.

Monitors the lab budgets, generates reports, manages the performance, intake, screening, assessments, and referral duties of lab employees. Interacts with program clients, the general public and other public/private sector stakeholders. Trains staff, prepares reports, reviews statistics, and conducts presentations. Maintains accurate records on testing and treatment efforts. Research and monitors trends in lab testing. Educates treatment court staff and judiciary on role of the lab.

Attends court hearings as needed and responds to information as requested by authorized court/treatment personnel.

All other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Trial Court Administrator.

Work Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminology, toxicology or related field with three (3) years of job-related experience OR a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in job-related field; one-year job related experience preferred. Five (5) years professional related experience can be substituted for the degree at management discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's Degree and prior lab experience is preferred.

Knowledge of treatment court procedures; including laws, trends, lab operations, analyzers, breathalyzers, chemicals, urine samples, data, software, and computers.

Knowledge of personnel rules and policies regarding recruitment, performance evaluations and progressive discipline.

Able to solve problems and work independently.

Able to work in harmony with staff, peers, and senior management.

Able to identify and resolve problems without service interruptions and prioritize duties in an organized and efficient manner.

Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with employees, co-workers, clients, the judiciary, and other public/private stakeholders.

Develop, train, and empower staff. Review, create and explain Treatment Court statistics/trends during meetings or court proceedings.

Perform audits as necessary to ensure program, staff, and equipment compliance.

Maintain a safe and work-friendly environment, where integrity remains the cornerstone.

Understand and comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
