Job Title
Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment in connection with the operation of water treatment plant facilities and distribution system.
Job DescriptionEssential duties include:
- Collect, record and interpret data for completion and utilization of operation and maintenance records as directed.
- Collect samples and perform chemical analyses as directed.
- Perform daily operations of pumps, motors, valves and other treatment plant equipment as directed so that the plant will operate within the parameters of its operating permit and specific rules established by the applicable regulatory agencies.
- Respond to emergency operational requirements as needed.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves and other treatment plant equipment as directed.
- Perform housekeeping and grounds maintenance as directed.
- Perform other additional duties as directed by the Chief Treatment Plant Operator and respond to emergency operational requirements as directed.
Day, afternoon, and midnight shifts are available with duties including:
- Collecting samples, reading meters, maintains equipment outside of the plant facility.
- Monitor overall performance of the treatment process, run water quality analysis, monitor SCADA system and perform required repairs and preventative maintenance on treatment equipment inside the plant facility.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and county requirements.

Allowances:
Must wear uniforms and safety shoes.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Possession of a Class "A" "B" or "C" Water Treatment Plant Operator's License as issued by the State of Florida and required by the position.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Chemistry, mathematics and electrical mechanical maintenance and experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants preferred.
Job competencies include:
- Pumps, motors, test and lab equipment, computer knowledge and data input.
Safety training includes:
- Hazcon, Confined Spaces, Hearing Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens, Respirators, Workplace Violence, Lockout/Tagout, Fire Extinguishers, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazardous Waste Operations
