Behavioral Health Ect Nurse
Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice. This position is responsible for delivering high quality, patient-centered care, and coordination through and during the Electroconvulsive Stimulation Therapy (ECT) process. Prepares patients for treatment, assists physicians during treatment, and monitors recovery in the ECT procedure area.
Works collaboratively with physicians, anesthesia, PACU, pharmacy, and the inpatient units. Assist with patient education, scheduling, ensuring pre-treatment assessments, treatment monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery for patients and will assure the smooth flow for patients through the ECT process. Is knowledgeable of anesthesia, starting IVs, and monitoring the recovery process.
- Require graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a diploma program. For new hires after 2012, Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) is required within specified timeframe as outlined in the New Hire BSN Agreement policy (126.045).
- Require successful level 2 background check.
- Prefer two (2) years of experience preferably in PACU or ICU.
- Prefer excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prefer interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations in a diplomatic manner.
- Prefer basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
- Prefer certification in nursing specialty area.
