Marine Mammal Science Research, Education, and Outreach Facilitator

Work to create methods of public engagement in animal-oriented science and research at a public aquarium.

This position is a Project-based capacity for OPS and will be paid viaa $10K stipend over 4 pay periods (PP), $2.5K in PP 13,14,15,16.

Examples of Duties

* Determining best practices and design to promote this engagement

* Identifying appropriate equipment and facility design for guest access through collaborations with facility, research, and educational staff

* Setting up, when possible, equipment that provides animal, staff, and guest access to new research paradigms

* Engage in networking/outreach/collaboration management on funded and unfunded research projects with PI

* Assist faculty with primary research, including documenting and organizing for ready use all sessions, data, methods, and other research materials on a daily and weekly basis

* Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

* MS in Marine Mammal Science

* At least one year of animal-oriented research experience

* Have experience performing general laboratory techniques

* Be reliable

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

* Communicate clearly verbally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience or training in a similar assignment, preferred

* Evidence of prior scientific productivity, including but not limited to co-authorship on manuscripts, attendance of scientific conferences, contribution to laboratory work

* Marine mammal experience
