Research Assistant
This position will assist the principal investigator with the design, execution, and documentation of research studies.
Examples Of DutiesCore Research Support
- Assist the principal investigator with the design, execution, and documentation of research studies
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize findings to support grant proposals, papers, and project planning
- Collect, clean, code, and manage research data in accordance with IRB, lab, and data-security protocols
- Perform quantitative and/or qualitative analysis using Python
- Maintain accurate datasets, codebooks, and version-controlled project files
Writing, Dissemination, And Collaboration
- Draft, edit, and format sections of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and technical reports
- Prepare figures, tables, and supplementary materials for publications and presentations
- Present progress and results in lab meetings, journal clubs, and (as appropriate) conferences
- Coordinate with co-authors, collaborators, and external partners on shared research tasks
- Assist with citation management, reference formatting, and journal submission requirements
Project And Lab Operations
- Help prepare IRB/ethics applications, amendments, and continuing-review materials
- Support grant-related tasks such as progress reports, budget tracking, and literature/justification sections
- Train and mentor undergraduate research assistants on protocols, software, and lab safety
- Follow all institutional, safety, and responsible-conduct-of-research requirements

Minimum QualificationsProgramming experience in Python
