Eco South is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support our construction and waste management operations in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. Working in the Skilled Labor department, you'll operate loaders, excavators, and related equipment to move, load, and compact materials efficiently on job sites and at disposal facilities. Responsibilities include daily equipment inspections, following strict OSHA and company safety standards, and coordinating with drivers and site supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Operate loaders, excavators, and related heavy equipment to support waste handling and construction activities
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and report issues promptly
  • Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures on active job and landfill sites
  • Coordinate with dispatch, drivers, and site supervisors to meet schedules and service goals
  • Safely load, move, and dump materials to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact
  • Interact professionally with customers, contractors, and teammates to support Eco
  • South's service standards
  • Maintain accurate logs, tickets, and basic paperwork for loads and routes

Required Skills

  • Heavy equipment operation (loaders, excavators, skid steers)
  • Equipment inspection and basic maintenance
  • Operation around landfills/transfer stations or construction sites
  • Safe loading, hauling, and dumping of materials
  • Reading site plans and load tickets
  • Lockout/tagout and basic mechanical safety
  • Radio/phone communication on active sites
  • Time management and route/schedule adherence
  • Customer service and professionalism on-site
  • Knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety standards
