Sarasota County Government is seeking an Equipment Operator III
- Utilities Operations/Stormwater. The person in this role is responsible for the operation of heavy equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of utility pipeline, storm conveyance system, and appurtenances.

Transport, operate, and maintain heavy equipment/vehicles and machines such as backhoes, walking excavators, front-end loaders, dump trucks, boom trucks, sewer vacuuming and flushing trucks and equipment, sewer TV trucks, water transport, delivery trucks, boring machines, tapping machines and other related equipment and machines used in the construction, maintenance and repair of stormwater conveyance systems and their appurtenances.

Perform manual labor tasks related to stormwater conveyance system maintenance and repair as required.

Perform roadway and right-of-way restoration relating to completing maintenance and repairs.

Complete and submit work orders relating to all work performed in a professional and timely fashion.

Respond to emergency situations as required.

Manage proactive assessments of fraud awareness, prevention, detection and risk mitigation activities in area of responsibility; oversees financial, compliance, operational and performance audits; reviews audit findings and ensures appropriate controls are established and implemented.

Work Hours:

7:00 a.m.

- 3:30 p.m., Monday
- Friday.
* On Call Required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two (2) years of experience in the operation and routine maintenance of one or more pieces of the equipment described herein.

Must have a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver License with any endorsements required by the work assignment.

Must have a valid Florida Driver's License at time of appointment to perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

Written and hands-on courses in the operation of heavy equipment, such as backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, and sewer cleaning equipment. Trenching and shoring competent person.

Physical Demands:
Must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening:
This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

Pay Range: $18.05 (Step
1) - $19.71 (Step
4)
