CAD Designer

Payrate: $53.00 - $54.19/hr summary:
As a member of this world-class team, the Controls Designer will lead and execute the design of protection and control aspects of Flexible AC (Alternating Current) Transmission System (FACTS) projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the design documentation of the protection and control aspects of fixed series capacitors (FSC), static VAR compensation (SVC), and synchronous condenser (SC) solutions within the Client’s Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) portfolio.

Responsibilities Design custom protection and control solutions, including physical layouts, schematics, logic diagrams, wiring/interconnection, grounding, cable schedules, and other required custom control hardware for custom FACTS solutions for orders and proposals. Develop Bills of Material for all designs, ensuring consistency and quality throughout all design documentation. Contribute to continuous improvement of standard control documentation for FACTS equipment, including protection and control systems.

Coordinate with offshore design resources and project team members on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives. Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders, and support organizations. Facilitate the development and execution of cost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low-cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction.

Demonstrate excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel, Word, AutoCAD Electrical, and Micro Station. Support project quality procedures and initiatives, including aspects of ISO
9001. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college with 2 years of experience; or an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience in the specific field of controls design. Skills Electrical and Controls drawing experience. Proficient in Standard Drafting practices. Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, AUS, CSA, and NESC standards and codes, and ability to design packages when no clear customer specification is provided.

The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $53.00 - $54.19/hr non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience.
