SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Compliance Specialist position, based either remotely in Latin America or at the company’s headquarters in South Jordan, Utah, supports healthcare compliance and risk management activities in Latin America, and may provide general corporate compliance support as well. This role serves as the Compliance business partner and point of contact for Merit’s business across Latin America. The individual will work closely with commercial and cross‑functional leaders to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks while enabling responsible business growth.

The position is responsible for supporting and executing Merit’s Compliance program consistent with its policies, applicable laws and regulations, industry codes, and anti‑corruption requirements. The successful candidate will be expected to act as a strategic business partner, helping teams navigate risk and develop practical, compliant business solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
  • Partner with business stakeholders to ensure that the Compliance program effectively prevents, detects, and addresses potential violations of laws, regulations, industry codes, and Merit policies.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner by providing practical and risk‑based compliance guidance that supports compliant business decision‑making.
  • Act as the primary Compliance point of contact for Merit’s business across Latin America.
  • Provide compliance consultation and review of business activities, including interactions with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), educational programs, sponsor ships, grants, HCP consulting engagements, and other commercial initiatives.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks through a proactive risk management approach.
  • Support and oversee third‑party due diligence activities, conflict of interest assessments, and red flag management processes.
  • Provide and coordinate appropriate guidance, education, training, and communications on Compliance requirements.
  • Participate in investigations, monitoring activities, corrective action plans, and remediation initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Engage in partnerships across functions including Sales, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Privacy, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to develop compliant and practical business solutions.
  • Support the deployment, implementation, and continuous improvement of Compliance policies, procedures, and compliance initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, ethical decision‑making, and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Performs a variety of other related duties, as required.
SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Compliance, Legal, Audit, Risk Management, Finance or related functions.
  • Experience supporting business teams in highly regulated industries such as Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, or Life Sciences is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and build credibility across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing investigations, third‑party due diligence, conflicts of interest, monitoring activities, or related compliance processes is preferred.
