Mechanical Engineer Consultant

Position Overview

• Design prototype fixtures, concept designs, test coupons, and mechanical assemblies in Solid Works
• Fabricate and iterate prototypes using rapid prototyping and external machine shops
• Execute lab bring-up of new fixtures and test platforms; own first-article validation
• Perform surface profiling, substrate warpage, and TTV measurements
• Set up and run pressure mapping, electromigration, and compression characterization tests
• Document test procedures, measurement data, and failure analyses

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field (MS preferred; equivalent hands‑on experience considered)
• Able to work full‑time on‑site in Saratoga, CA
• Proficient in Solid Works — 3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, GD&T
• Demonstrated hands‑on rapid prototyping experience (FDM, SLA, CNC, or equivalent)
• Practical lab skills: instrumentation setup, data acquisition, measurement
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment

• Experience with precision mechanical systems or semiconductor packaging hardware
• Surface metrology tools (profilometers, confocal microscopes)
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Python for data analysis or automation
• Background in thermo‑mechanical analysis or substrate/PCB fabrication

The starting base salary for the selected candidate will be established based on their relevant skills, experience, qualifications, work location, market trends, and the compensation of employees in comparable roles.
