Piper Companies is seeking a Hardware Engineering Program Manager to support hardware development initiatives within the data center and server infrastructure industry onsite Monday through Friday near San Jose, CA. The ideal Hardware Engineering Program Manager will operate at a high level of leadership, bridging technical engineering efforts and program execution to ensure successful delivery of complex hardware products.
Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end hardware product development lifecycle with emphasis on development and execution phases
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, thermal, optical, and firmware engineering groups
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal engineering teams, architects, and contract manufacturers
- Drive program structure, schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time execution
- Manage and track detailed program plans using tools such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Office suite
- Maintain visibility into program health, risks, and dependencies while proactively mitigating issues
- Support engineering leadership by owning planning, documentation, and execution workflows
- Oversee hardware integration across server and data center infrastructure components (wiring, fiber, thermal, optical systems)
- Ensure smooth transition points between design, manufacturing, and production teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
- 10+ year experience in electrical engineering and hardware systems within server or data center environments
- Demonstrated program management experience leading complex, cross‑functional initiatives within hardware product development
- Deep understanding of data center components including wiring, fiber optics, thermal systems, and mechanical systems
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and manufacturing engineering teams
- Proficiency in Smartsheet, Microsoft Office Suite, and other program management tools
- Salary range: $210,000 - $250,000 annually depending on experience
