Position Title

IT Construction Project Manager

Overview

The Technology Department is seeking an IT Construction Project Manager to oversee district Facilities and Bond projects, coordinating physical security, Facilities, Technology, and Public Safety initiatives across the West Valley-Mission Community College District. The role supports the district’s two colleges—West Valley College and Mission College—located in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Assignment

Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week for 12 months per year, starting July 2026. Schedule may include evening or weekend hours as needed. The position is represented by the WVMCEA Office, Technical & Business Services Employee Unit. Work is located in the District Information Systems (IS) department on the West Valley College campus in Saratoga, CA, or the IS department on the Mission College campus.

NOTE:

This bond‑funded position is contingent upon ongoing bond funding.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range:

  • $17,857.33 – $18,582.83 monthly (2026‑2027 WVMCEA Salary Schedule, Principal IT Architect Classification, Range 98, Steps A‑C).

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

  • Experience:

    Four years of advanced project management experience equivalent to a Senior Information Technology Analyst within the West Valley‑Mission Community College District.
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information technology or a related field.

AND

Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socio‑economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Desired Qualifications
  • Significant experience with IT and Facilities management systems, leadership, and project management.
  • Provide IT expertise and requirements to guide discussions with Facilities, Construction Managers, and contractors.
  • Principles and practices for producing effective project and technical documentation.
  • Extensive experience working with construction design documents and line drawings/specifications; solid understanding of the building design process including SD, DD and CD phases.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure (Category 6A cabling, single‑mode fiber, cable pathways, grounding, cable testing, certification).
  • Knowledge of construction vendors representing trades for new classroom and office spaces.
  • Ability to supervise contractor work, understand scope details, document deficiencies, and inspect/accept contractor work.
  • Knowledge of data networking, Windows/Linux server architecture, and functionality.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Fire Alarm Systems, ECCES, DAS and the IT integration required for those systems.
  • Coordination of physical security projects working with IT and Facilities departments.
  • Coordinate project meetings effectively and facilitate outcomes.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring a program or project budget; track and reconcile expenses.
  • Certifications such as CAPM, PMP, or BICSI RCDD (not required but valuable).
