Overview
As a Project Engineer II, you are responsible for managing core project coordination workflows across documentation, trade partners, and internal teams. Reporting to the Production Manager, you act as an extension of the Project Manager—owning key processes that ensure alignment between scope, budget, and schedule. This role requires proactive problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to drive progress across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Project Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Managers, and Superintendents to ensure alignment across all phases of construction.
- Proactively identify and resolve coordination gaps that could impact schedule or execution.
- Support job site setup and logistics with an emphasis on efficiency and planning.
- Manage material procurement tracking, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with schedule.
- POs & Subcontract Management
- Own the creation, issuance, and tracking of all purchase orders.
- Manage subcontractor onboarding, contract execution, and compliance (COIs, documentation).
- Ensure all commitments align with project budgets and scope.
- Identify discrepancies and escalations as needed.
- Change Orders (COs) Documentation & Processing
- Manage the full lifecycle of change orders from initiation through approval.
- Coordinate scope definition, pricing inputs, and supporting documentation with trades and PM.
- Track CO status and ensure timely execution to avoid project delays.
- Project Documentation & File Integrity
- Maintain and audit all project documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure Builder Trend reflects current project status at all times.
- Establish consistency in file structure, naming, and record keeping.
- Information Flow (RFIs, Submittals, Drawings)
- Manage and track RFIs, submittals, and drawing updates across all stakeholders.
- Drive timely responses and follow-ups to prevent schedule impacts.
- Communicate critical updates to field and project teams.
- Scheduling & Communication
- Coordinate key milestones, inspections, and project events.
- Support schedule adherence by identifying risks and communicating constraints early.
- Interface with internal teams (design, marketing, leadership) as needed.
- Field & PM Support
- Act as day-to-day coordination lead supporting the PM.
- Assist in resolving field issues through communication and documentation.
- Reduce PM administrative burden by owning core workflows.
- PM, Site Manager/Superintendent are aligned on priorities, responsibilities, and upcoming work.
- Coordination gaps are identified and resolved before they impact the schedule.
- Jobsite logistics and material needs are planned ahead of time.
- Materials are procured and delivered in alignment with the project schedule.
- The project team has the information needed to execute the work without unnecessary delays.
- POs & Subcontract Management

- The PM has clear visibility into project commitments and outstanding procurement.
- Change Orders (COs) Documentation & Processing
- Manage the full lifecycle of change orders from initiation through approval.
- Coordinate scope definition, pricing inputs, and supporting documentation with trades and PM.
- Track CO status and ensure timely execution to avoid project delays.
- Change orders are documented, priced, routed, and approved promptly.
- Scope and pricing are clearly defined before work proceeds.
- CO status is always current and visible to the project team.
- No change order sits unresolved long enough to impact schedule, cost, or client expectations.
- The project record accurately reflects all approved changes.
- Project Documentation & File Integrity
- Maintain and audit all project documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure Builder Trend reflects current project status at all times.
- Establish consistency in file structure, naming, and record keeping.
- Project files and Builder Trend are accurate, complete, and current.
- Documentation is consistently organized and easy for anyone on the team to find.
- Records accurately reflect project decisions, commitments, and status.
- Documentation gaps are identified and corrected proactively.
- The project is always "audit ready."
