Construction Labourer

Job Description

The Construction Labourer supports a wide range of on-site activities, focusing on concrete work, carpentry-related tasks, and general labour to ensure projects progress safely and efficiently. This role involves hands‑on work with hand and power tools, assisting with forming and stripping, and contributing to process work in a construction environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of construction labour tasks on site as needed to support project progress.
  • Assist with concrete work, including chipping, forming, stripping, and related activities.
  • Use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Support carpentry‑related work, including setting up and removing concrete forms.
  • Assist with concrete finishing activities as required by the project.
  • Work with rebar and other structural components to support concrete placement and reinforcement.
  • Support process work related to pipe and valve installations when required.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and contribute to a strong health and safety culture.
  • Work at heights and in formwork concrete areas while adhering to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with a team of 10–20 workers to complete daily tasks and meet project timelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are stored safely.
  • Adapt to changing site needs and take on additional duties as directed by site leadership.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of construction labour experience.
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools in a construction environment.
  • Concrete experience, including chipping, forming, stripping, or related tasks.
  • Ability to perform carpentry‑related work such as setting and stripping forms.
  • Concrete finishing experience or exposure to finishing tasks.
  • Experience working with rebar and process work related to concrete structures.
  • Ability to work safely at heights and in formwork concrete areas.
  • Strong awareness of and adherence to health and safety practices on site.
  • Capability to work effectively as part of a team of 10–20 people.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with concrete forming in industrial or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience performing pipe and valve work in a construction setting.
  • Previous experience in a water treatment facility environment.
  • Comfort working in a suburban community in a country area.
  • Flexibility to move on to other projects and sites as needed.

Work

Environment

This role is based across multiple sites, with positions available in Listowel and Sarnia. You work a day shift schedule from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The sites are located in suburban communities in country areas, providing a mix of open and structured work zones. You work as part of a team of 10–20 people in a collaborative environment. The work can involve heights and formwork concrete areas, requiring consistent use of safety equipment and adherence to safety protocols.

The culture emphasizes health and safety, with strong expectations around safe tool use, proper PPE, and compliance with site procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sarnia, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.15/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
