The Role

Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as a key member of our ward team, where you will play an essential role in supporting patients, relatives and clinical staff in a busy healthcare environment. You will be the first point of contact for those arriving on the ward, welcoming patients, relatives and visitors through the door entry system and guiding them appropriately, while ensuring all security, health and safety, and infection control measures are followed at all times.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern There Are Two Permanent Posts Available

Post 1 - 19.5hrs
- Thurs day
- Friday  & Saturday

Please note this is a Greater Glasgow and Clyde-wide post and can be moved to any location; however, the initial base will be Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will manage incoming telephone calls to the ward, taking and relaying messages accurately to members of the multidisciplinary team. You will also provide clear and sensitive information to relatives regarding patients’ conditions, as directed by nursing staff, helping to maintain effective communication and reassurance.

You will be responsible for maintaining a clean, organised and presentable reception and clerical area, including equipment such as computers, telephones and case note trolleys, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment.

As part of your patient administration duties, you will use the Trak Care Patient Management System to admit, discharge and transfer patients, as well as pre-admit patients in preparation for their arrival. You will also regularly cross-check the ward bed census whiteboard against Trak Care to ensure accurate and up-to-date patient information.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • Knowledge required to undertake the role will be established through relevant in-house training relating to processes and procedures, Trak Care patient information system and stock ordering system with expectation of performing at a fully competent level within a specific time period (tbc).
  • Previous clerical/reception experience.
  • Previous experience of working with the general public in a customer service environment.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Keyboard skills.
  • Proficient use of computer systems.
