The opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Vice-President, Corporate Development, the Corporate Development Associate will support the team in proactively planning for and managing customer service and business requirements to drive regional growth through the ongoing recruitment of established advisors, with a focus on the Private Counsel advisors and businesses.
Key responsibilities include
Following a well-defined process in recruiting advisors (M1 – M8).
Identifying and engaging potential investment advisors through strategic networking and cold calling as appropriate within the assigned region.
Developing and implementing social media campaigns.
Assisting with building out call lists pertaining to advisors in British Columbia.
Meeting with potential advisors and assessing suitability for follow-up discussions with the EVP, SVP and/or VP.
Participating in virtual and in-person meetings with advisor prospects, as applicable.
Setting up and participating in internal debrief sessions regarding advisors who chose not to join the organization.
Providing regular progress reports to the EVP as may be requested.
Supporting the onboarding and transition process for new advisors/teams, liaising with Transition and Human Resources as needed.
Serving as a backup contact during the absence of the SVP and VP.
Overseeing special projects and tracking progress towards company goals.
Responsible for expense reports.
Supporting the Corporate Development team with reporting and administrative tasks.
Performing other duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives.
The ideal candidate will possess
Post-secondary education in business administration, finance, or similar field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant work experience that includes business development strategy and client and partnership development.
Deep knowledge and understanding of the financial services industries.
Experience working in a demanding environment with highly motivated and driven professionals.
Valid CSC or Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE) and experience with IIROC is considered a strong asset.
Proficiency with the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
Capable of working with CRM systems and managing social media platforms.
Demonstrates a high level of accountability, adaptability, and innovation in achieving both day‑to‑day responsibilities and long‑term goals.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to independently manage complex administrative and financial tasks.
Exemplary interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills across multiple mediums (in-person, phone, virtual).
Excellent presentation skills, including strong oral and writing capabilities; ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to executives and external business partners.
Strong problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities.
Highly organized with a consistent and reliable work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as a team member; cope with workload pressure, deadlines, and fluid contexts; and work in a results‑based environment.
Ability to handle projects with multiple work streams, with proven leadership success over a wide variety of functional business problems.
