Regulatory Compliance Specialist, HR Generalist / Talent Management, HR Manager
What You’ll Do:
- Manage daily Labour Relations activities and provide guidance to management and project teams.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date register of all active Collective Agreements used across all ONxpress operations.
- Monitor Collective Agreement end dates and gather feedback from operations to support collective bargaining.
- Read, understand, and counsel on the interpretation and application of Collective Agreements related to discipline procedures, performance, attendance management, and other labour matters.
- Build and maintain contacts with contractor associations across Canada (e.g., MCAO, ECAO).
- Develop and maintain harmonious Union‑Management relations, including Union contact lists.
- Design and deliver training for management and operations staff on Collective Agreement overview, progressive discipline, strategic grievance handling, arbitration handling, employment standards, human rights, and related topics.
- Collaborate with operations and union management to resolve Labour Relations issues and conflicts (e.g., grievances, arbitrations, sector/jurisdictional disputes, workforce shortages, referrals).
- Assist in developing Project Labour Agreements (PLAs) and other site‑specific Labour Relations planning.
- Provide support to proposals and estimating groups during pursuits, including application of Collective Agreements, union enabling efforts, PLAs, and rate tables.
- Assist operations in other Labour Relations environments (e.g., Non‑Union, CLAC).
- Monitor legislation and regulations affecting labour and employment and advise management on new developments.
- Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Law, and/or Labour Relations or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7+ years of working experience in a construction setting.
- Extensive experience interpreting and negotiating collective agreements.
- Knowledge of employment legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety Insurance Act, Labour Relations Act, and Human Rights Code.
- Good understanding of Building Trades, CLAC, and Non‑Union labour within the construction industry.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
Expected compensation for this role is between $ and $ annually. Base salaries are determined based on skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. In addition to base salary, ONxpress offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, an RRSP with company matching, and potential participation in a discretionary, performance‑based bonus program.
