About

The Role

The Underground Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for providing safe, effective leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team of underground supervisors and tradespersons. This role ensures all maintenance activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational goals and corporate standards.

  • Enforcing maintenance workflow practices (planning & scheduling) and holding teams accountable to standards.
What will you do?

Team Leadership & Scheduling

  • Develop and lead an effective supervisory group and workforce to achieve planned objectives.
  • Ensure optimal resource allocation and scheduling to meet operational requirements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to all regulatory, corporate, and site safety standards.
  • Implement safety and risk reduction initiatives aligned with site objectives.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

Maintenance Planning & Execution

  • Collaborate in planning, workflow (SAP S/4

    HANA), and budgeting activities to meet departmental and operational requirements.
  • Work with planners to establish daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance goals.
  • Provide input into Capital and Maintenance budgets and manage expenditures within approved limits.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and procurement teams to align inventory with maintenance needs.
  • Deliver clear updates and reports to stakeholders on progress, issues, and corrective actions.
What You’ll Need
  • Education:

    High School/GED required, Bachelor’s in engineering, Technology Education or Journeyman Red Seal Trade Certificate.
  • Experience:

    5–10 years of supervisory experience in mine maintenance or a related field.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency with MS Office, SAP S/4

    HANA, and other relevant software tools.
  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, electrical distribution and equipment used in an underground potash mining operation.
