Chief Allied Health Professional – South Sector
Overview
NHSGGC is a modern, high‑quality patient care organisation. The South Sector’s Acute Division delivers a significant proportion of NHSGGC’s healthcare. We are searching for a Chief Allied Health Professional (Chief AHP) to lead the strategic and operational delivery and development of allied health services in the South Sector.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership of Allied Health Professional (AHP) services.

Accountable for professional leadership, development, standards and clinical service delivery across all AHPs.

Manage resources, delegated budgets and staff within the defined service area, reporting directly to the Director.

Implement and achieve business and clinical performance targets aligned with local, regional and national objectives.

Provide operational support to the Director on safe patient care, clinical governance, performance standards and the business and clinical service agenda.

Lead direct line management of team leads and collaborate across services to develop a whole‑system approach.

Maintain key relationships with General Managers, Clinical Service Managers, Lead Nurses, Clinical Directors, Lead Clinicians and other multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Qualifications

Extensive senior AHP leadership experience in a large, complex NHS or equivalent health and social care organisation.

Strategic thinker with the ability to operate at pace across complex services and at senior management or board level.

Robust understanding of the role of AHPs in delivering safe, effective service and proven experience of leading service improvement work.

Evidence of general management experience and a strong performance culture that prioritises patient care.

Resilience, political acumen, strategic vision and tactical skills; a proven leader with the ability to influence and deliver in a politically sensitive environment.

Experience working in partnership to bring about effective change and with a demonstrated record of service improvement.
