The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University.
The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution.
In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students.
Job SummaryThe Collective Closet is a swap-based clothing initiative that promotes slow fashion through swapping items instead of buying new . A Collective Closet Volunteer helps out by volunteering at the Collective Closet's regular store hours and pop-up shops throughout the year. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for environmental sustainability, and sustainable fashion practices.
Communication Organization Ownership Client/Customer FocusedJob Duties
- Regular volunteer hours of 1-4 hours each week
- Participation in monthly pop-up events
- Ens ur e the Collective Closet stays clean and organized, i.e. refolding clothing, sorting clothing brought in for donations
- Keep store credits up to date for patrons and Collective Closet team
- Assist Collective Closet Supervisor and Commissioner of Environmental Sustainability, if needed on matters related to the Collective Close t
- Attend all training sessions to become familiar with the department and adhere to the general operations of the department
- Respect and adhere to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards
- Maintain timely communication with your direct supervisor
- Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentively
- Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings
- Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere
- Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement
- Complete other job duties as assigned
