Position: Board of Directors – Call for Nominations
Overview  The Canadian Association of MAiD Assessors and Providers (CAMAP) is seeking qualified, committed individuals to join its Board of Directors. CAMAP is a national charitable organization that supports professionals working in medical assistance in dying across Canada, including assessors, providers, care coordinators, nurses, social workers, and others involved in MAiD care. We serve as a trusted national hub for connection, education, and guidance—providing high-quality training, evidence-informed resources, and a supportive professional network.

Our work sits at the intersection of clinical practice, ethics, public education, and health system leadership, strengthening the capacity of professionals and advancing safe, consistent, and compassionate MAiD care nationwide.
About the Role
As a Director, you will contribute to CAMAP's strategic leadership and governance. Board members are responsible for stewarding the organization’s mission, ensuring sound governance and financial oversight, and supporting the long-term sustainability and impact of CAMAP’s work.
This is a volunteer position.
What We’re Looking For  CAMAP is currently seeking to recruit  three  new Directors with professional expertise in the following areas:
1. Finance and Accounting
We are seeking an accountant (preferably with a designation) with experience in one or more of the following:
Financial oversight and reporting
Audit, risk management, and internal controls
Budgeting, forecasting, and financial sustainability
Experience advising or serving charitable or non-profit organizations
2. Legal
We are seeking a lawyer with experience in one or more of the following areas:
Governance and regulatory compliance
Health law, administrative law, or professional regulation
Risk management and policy development
Experience advising or serving boards of charitable or non-profit organizations
3. MAiD Practitioner
We are seeking a nurse practitioner or a physician who is also a MAiD assessor or provider. Ideally, this individual will also have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Government relations
Healthcare and social services
Leadership
Public relations and communication
Research
Training and supervision of healthcare providers
Additional Considerations  In addition to professional expertise in finance or law, CAMAP welcomes candidates with experience in fundraising and philanthropy, or communications and marketing. Experience supporting organizational sustainability, donor engagement, or strategic growth in mission-driven organizations will further strengthen the Board’s ability to steward CAMAP’s long-term impact.
CAMAP is committed to building a Board that reflects diversity in geography, background, perspective, and lived experience across Canada.
Time Commitment   Two- and three-year terms, with the possibility of re-election (subject to term limits)
Approximately 7-8 Board meetings per year (held virtually), which are typically two hours in length
Participation in at least one Board sub-committee, which typically meets for one hour in alignment with the board’s schedule. Committee members support projects that align with their interests and skills throughout the year.
Preparation time for meetings and strategic discussions, including the one-day annual board retreat
Eligibility  Directors must meet the eligibility requirements set out in CAMAP’s bylaws and the BC Societies Act, including being at least 18 years of age and able to fulfill fiduciary duties of a Director of a charitable organization.
