Position OverviewThe Dishwasher / Steward maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, glassware, utensils, kitchen equipment, and culinary work areas to support safe and efficient food and beverage operations. This position provides essential back-of-house support by maintaining organized dishflow, waste handling, cleaning standards, and required supplies.
Key Responsibilities- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and maintain required wash and rinse temperatures,and chemical levels.
- Wash,sanitize, inspect, sort, and store dishes, glassware, cutlery, cookware,utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain steady dish flow during service and communicate shortages or breakage promptly.
- Clean floors,drains, mats, walls, equipment exteriors, waste areas, and assigned kitchen spaces.
- Remove garbage, compost, recycling, and other waste according to procedures.
- Restock clean serviceware and kitchen supplies in designated areas.
- Support kitchen cleaning, receiving, and basic operational tasks as assigned.
- Followfood safety, WHMIS, chemical handling, PPE, slip prevention, lifting, and occupational safety procedures.
- Keep wetfloors and work areas controlled and clearly market to prevent accidents.
- Report broken equipment, leaks, pest concerns, damaged serviceware, and safety hazards immediately.
- Maintain chemical storage and dilution systems according to approved procedures.
- Assist with setup, organization of serviceware, kitchen deep cleaining, and stocking.
- Support the culinary and service teams with urgency and professionalism during peak periods.
- Protect the quality and appearance of guest-facing serviceware through careful handling and inspection.
- Contribute to a respectful, organized, and reliable back-of-house environment.
- Previous experience as a dishwasher, kitchen helper, or in a restaurant or hospitality environment is considered as asset but not required.
- Ability towork in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ability tofollow instructions and establish procedures.
- Serve ItRight Saskatchewan (SIRS) certification is preferred.
- Safe Food Handling Certification is an asset.
- WHMIScertification is preferred.
- First Aideand CPR certification is an asset.
- Ability towork flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
