Position OverviewThe Cook prepares high-quality food for the Prairie Rose Kitchen restaurant and Red Willow Café grab-and-go, while following recipes, portion standards, food safety requirements, and culinary presentation expectations. This position supports service through disciplined preparation, teamwork, and station organization.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare,cook, finish, and plate menu items according to approved recipes and specifications.
- Completemise en place and maintain appropriate station par levels for forecast demand.
- Check product quality, freshness, temperature, appearance, and portioning before service.
- Follow safe receiving, storage, thawing, cooking, cooling, reheating, and holding procedures.
- Communicate dietary restrictions and allergen concerns to kitchen leadership and follow established controls.
- Maintain aclean, organized, and stocked workstation throughout the shift.
- Assist other stations and support team members during peak service as directed.
- Follow allfood safety, sanitation, WHMIS, occupational health and safety, and personal hygiene requirements.
- Label,date, rotate, and store food correctly and immediately report spoiled or questionable product.
- Minimize waste and use ingredients, equipment, utilities, and supplies responsibly.
- Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas and complete assigned closing duties.
- Support recipe testing, specials, and seasonal menu changes as requested.
- Maintain professional conduct and a collaborative approach that contributes to smooth service.
- Be familiar with menus, recipes, plating standards, portion sizes, prep systems,storage locations, and kitchen procedures.
- Assist with kitchen setup, opening prep, inventories, labelling, station organization,and mock service.
- Culinary diploma or equivalent culinary training and experience required.
- 2+ yearsof culinary experience in a restaurant, hotel, resort, or food service environment.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Familiar with food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability towork efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Serve ItRight Saskatchewan (SIRS) certification is preferred.
- Safe Food Handling Certification is an asset.
- WHMIScertification is preferred.
- First Aideand CPR certification is an asset.
- Minimum 19years of age.
- Ability towork flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shiftsas required.
