Reporting to the Supervisor, Resource Development, the Geotechnician will be responsible for cutting core as marked by the geologist, placing the samples in bags, and marking them for submission to the respective assay laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
Move core to and from the core shacks and cutting shacks (estimated 50-70 lbs per box).
Cutting core samples as marked by the geologist.
Placing the cut segments into labelled bags, respective of the sample tag number.
Recording data on sample quantity per bag to be later entered into an excel database.
Placing core boxes in tidy, organized stacks in the respective core yard.
Creating and stapling core boxes with labels.
Assist geologists with drill program related tasks outside the confines of camp, such as locating drill collars.
Consignment of the cut sample bags for tracking and submission to laboratories.
Maintain a clean working area.
Inspect equipment and inform senior employee if maintenance and/or new tools are required.
Keep inventory of consumables and report to supervisor when supplies are running low.
Assist geologists with core data collection.
Operate heavy equipment to move core and snow as needed (training provided).
May occasionally be asked to assist underground staff (Mine Techs, Geologists, Surveyors etc.) with non‑technical tasks.
Any other duties as assigned by the department.
Your Knowledge And Skills
Physical fitness is a large portion of the job.
Ability to pick up new tasks and techniques quickly.
Ability to record sample inventories and consignments accurately on paper.
Ability to follow directions and safety procedures.
Valid Driver’s License is required.
Ability to fill out daily 5‑point safety cards.
Ability to work in noisy, dusty environment with protective equipment worn.
Ability to lift up to 70lbs and occasionally more with assistance of another employee.
Your Education And Experience
The successful candidate will have:
Previous core cutting experience is an asset.
Previous heavy equipment operation experience is an asset.
About Our Working Conditions
This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp which you will be required to fly in fly out with pick up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert and La Ronge.
