Key Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and maintain geospatial datasets related to reserve lands, traditional territories, natural resources, and infrastructure

Utilize Esri ArcGIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) to produce high-quality maps, dashboards, and spatial analyses

Collaborate with Indigenous communities to incorporate Traditional Knowledge into GIS projects in a culturally appropriate and ethical manner

Support land management initiatives, including land use planning, environmental monitoring, and consultation processes

Conduct spatial analysis to inform decision-making on land development, stewardship, and resource use

Provide technical ArcGIS Enterprise support and training to Indigenous land technicians and community staff

Ensure data governance aligns with Indigenous data sovereignty principles (e.g., OCAP principles)

Assist in the development of GIS standards, protocols, and documentation

Work with interdisciplinary teams, including environmental specialists, planners, and community leadership

Technical Skills

Proficiency in ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Esri applications

Experience with spatial data management, geodatabases (Azure), GPS data collection and web server applications (e.g., tablets, Survey
123)

Knowledge of remote sensing, data visualization, and spatial analysis techniques

Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python for ArcGIS) is an asset

Knowledge & Competencies

Understanding of Indigenous land management practices and cultural protocols

Knowledge of Indigenous data sovereignty and ethical data practices

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a community-focused environment

Self-identification as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit is considered an asset

Experience supporting land code development or land governance initiatives
