Prairie Malt Boortmalt has an immediate opening for a qualified Apprentice Millwright at our malt processing plant in Biggar. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is an integral member of the plant maintenance team responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment in a safe and cost effective manner and participating fully in the plant safety program.

Our Collective Agreement includes comprehensive benefits including company pension plan, an annual bonus (incentive plan), paid lunch-breaks and dayshift work schedules consisting of 4 x 10 hr dayshift weekdays, with some mandatory overtime and off-hour (paid) call-ins.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance on plant assets, including equipment rebuilds, asset replacement, and lubrication duties as assigned while maintaining required documentation.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on plant assets resulting from preventative maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Participate in meetings, training activities, and in plant safety and food safety programs.
  • Respond to unexpected breakdowns and perform critical repairs as required.
  • Other projects and activities as assigned.

Who you are:

  • Apprentice Millwright with minimum 3600 Trade Experience Hours as per Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work standard dayshift schedules consisting of 4x10 hr dayshift on weekdays.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, food safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong problem solving skills and clear written and verbal communication skills
