Location: Najrān

Virtucruit is partnering with a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia to appoint a Light Vehicle Mechanic within the Mechanic Department.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing the company light vehicle fleet to ensure safe operation, high-availability, and minimum downtime.

The position requires a hands-on mechanic with strong diagnostic capability and at least five years of practical experience maintaining 4x4 pickups, utility vehicles, and similar light-duty vehicles operating in demanding mining and field conditions.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained.
  • Carry out scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on light vehicles, including 4x4 pickups and utility vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, cooling, fuel, transmission, and driveline faults.
  • Perform routine maintenance including engine oil and filter changes, lubrication, brake inspections, fluid checks, belt replacement, battery checks, and other OEM-specified service activities.
  • Use diagnostic scanners, multimeters, pressure gauges, and other testing equipment to identify faults and confirm vehicle performance after repairs.
  • Read and interpret vehicle wiring diagrams, workshop manuals, service schedules, technical bulletins, and OEM specifications.
  • Inspect tyres, wheels, brakes, suspension, steering, and other safety-critical components and report defects requiring corrective action.
  • Carry out component removal, replacement, adjustment, and minor overhaul work in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct pre-service and post-repair road tests where authorized to confirm vehicle condition and repair quality.
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns in the workshop and field and restore equipment to service safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain good housekeeping, tool control, and safe working practices within the workshop and field service areas.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards, inspection sheets, parts usage, service history, and work hours in the applicable maintenance system.
  • Identify recurring failures and provide technical feedback to supervisors and planners to support reliability improvement and maintenance planning.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed in accordance with company procedures, OEM standards, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Support the development and training of junior mechanics and local nationals through practical coaching, guidance, and knowledge transfer.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Technical Diploma, Trade Certificate, Automotive Mechanic qualification, or equivalent recognized vocational training.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Light Vehicle / Automotive Mechanic, preferably supporting mining, drilling, construction, or remote-site operations.
  • Strong practical experience with 4x4 diesel and petrol vehicles; experience with Toyota Hilux, Toyota Land Cruiser, MG T60, or similar fleet vehicles is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of diesel and petrol engines, automatic and manual transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension, driveline, cooling systems, and basic automotive electrical systems.
  • Ability to use automotive diagnostic tools and interpret fault codes, wiring diagrams, and OEM service information.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms is a plus (e.g., Service Manager, SAP, or similar systems).
  • Valid driving licence appropriate for light vehicles is preferred.
  • Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a multicultural team and in remote mining or field environments.
