Statement of Duties:
- Performs psychological assessments and presents findings in team meetings in oral and written format, primarily for secondary level students.
- Provides individual and group therapy to designated special needs students, primarily secondary level.
- Provides crisis intervention.
- Screens referrals in conjunction with other designated school personnel.
- Participates in the pre-referral process as needed.
- Consults on a regular basis with classroom teachers regarding special needs students.
- Performs other duties assigned by the District Principal or the Director of Pupil Personnel, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Saugus School Committee.
- Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Massachusetts as a School Psychologist.
- M.Ed. in counseling or school psychology.
- Knowledge of integration and inclusive models of instruction.
- Knowledge of curriculum modifications, behavior management strategies, and learning styles.
- Ability to perform and interpret psychological evaluations, including projectives.
- Ability to provide individual and small group therapy to school-age students.
- Ability to work closely and harmoniously with parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Knowledge of special education programs and regulations.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate.
- Works under the supervision of the Director of Pupil Personnel.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
