A leading power generation facility is seeking a Shift Operations Supervisor to oversee plant operations, personnel, safety, and environmental compliance during assigned shifts. This position is responsible for directing plant operators and support staff, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, and auxiliary equipment, maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and serving as the facility's operational leader when plant management is not on-site.
The ideal candidate will possess a Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineer's License, strong control room and power plant operations experience, and previous supervisory or leadership experience within a steam-generating power plant environment. Responsibilities:
* Supervise and direct plant operations personnel during assigned shifts
* Ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of boilers, turbines, and auxiliary plant systems
* Enforce company policies, safety procedures, lockout/tagout programs, confined space requirements, and permitting practices
* Train and mentor plant personnel on operations, safety procedures, and environmental compliance
* Monitor plant performance and troubleshoot operational issues
* Conduct facility inspections and ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
* Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses and implement corrective actions
* Maintain operational logs, reports, work requests, and plant documentation
* Manage employee performance, attendance, and timesheet approvals
* Serve as the Plant Manager's representative during off-hours and support facility operations as needed
Qualifications:
* Massachusetts 2nd Class Engineer's License (Required)
* Experience operating boilers, turbines, steam generation systems, and power plant equipment
* Previous supervisory, lead, or shift leadership experience within a power generation environment
* Strong understanding of control room operations and plant safety procedures
* Knowledge of lockout/tagout, confined space, and industrial safety programs
* Mechanical troubleshooting and operational problem-solving abilities
* Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
* Ability to work rotating day and night shifts
