Title

Store Manager

Reports To

Responsibilities

Lead the day‑to‑day operations of a single store to achieve sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, inventory control, brand representation, and team member growth and development.

Communicate performance expectations, coach and develop store staff to represent the brand consistently, and execute corporate plans to produce desired results. Ask questions to ensure full understanding of strategy and process and ensure staff understand how goals will be achieved.

Demonstrate professionalism to customers and team members by displaying integrity, honesty, and a positive and enthusiastic attitude that inspires and motivates others.

Customer Obsession

Ensure team members and self deliver an exceptional customer experience through training, outreach, communication, and clear expectations. Empower staff to resolve customer issues within established parameters and drive high levels of service through follow‑up and outreach.

Critical Thinking & Innovative Action

Achieve sales projections and quotas, develop strategies to maximize both personal and team sales potential, and identify operational opportunities for improvement. Coach staff to correct root causes of operational problems, review and analyze reports, and identify market trends to develop actionable plans.

Employee Experience

Drive talent selection and development, provide a compelling onboarding experience, and offer ongoing coaching in operations, sales techniques, customer service, product knowledge, inventory control, and visual merchandising. Communicate performance expectations, set actionable goals, and monitor progress.

Performance Excellence

Respond promptly to management directives, manage merchandise transfers, inventories, and information requests, and maintain the store’s neatness and cleanliness. Control discounting, expenses, payroll, and repair departments to maximize profit margins. Schedule work efficiently, balancing opening/closing shifts, customer traffic, and training needs.

Work Schedule

During non‑peak periods, aim for a five‑day, 40‑hour week. Schedule opening and closing shifts to align with operating hours, sales requirements, and adequate team coverage. Hours increase during peak selling periods.

Position Qualifications
  • Education: Minimum of 2 years of college (preferred).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of retail sales experience, or 2 years of retail sales plus at least 1 year of retail management experience. Preference for specialty retail or jewelry experience and for Diamond Council of America (DCA) certification.
  • Technical & Other

    Skills:

    Advanced communication skills (written and verbal), proficiency with computers and MS Office, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, problem‑solving and conflict‑management abilities, professional communication via email, social media, video conference, and text, strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and delegate, and reliability.
  • Language: Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Demands

Regularly stand, reach, move between display cases, sit, stoop, bend, kneel or crouch, and lift up to 10 pounds. Requires visual acuity for gemstone quality discernment. Standard workweek includes weekends, evenings, holidays, and extended hours. Training sessions and business meetings may require travel, including air and overnight travel.

Compensation

Base pay ranges from $50,000 to $84,700 plus commission on sales; final pay rate is determined by experience and qualifications.
