WORK HOURS:
Hours include practices and meets. The competitive track & field season is early March through mid June.
The head track & field coach will be in charge of developing and implementing the track & field program for Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. He/She will instruct participants, oversee safety, meets & practice plan, and supervise coaches. The Head Coach will oversee a program of student participants in grades 9-12, but will be involved in all aspects of District ISD 47 track & field, youth through varsity.
This assignment also includes being able to assess skills, teaching/coaching skills, participant development, and motivation within the track & field program.
The position includes being the leader for directing, communicating, teaching, recruiting, practices, demonstrations, advising, organizing and assessing. The head track & field coach will also be responsible for a budget and all scheduling of practices.
This position will report and work closely with the Activities Director to ensure the program is developing and growing.
- Coach and instruct students, individually or in groups; regarding the rules, regulations, and proper use of equipment/facility.
- Supervision of assistant coaches and oversight of duties.
- Assess student's skills and assign teams & positions.
- Develop practice schedules.
- Assign duties to subordinate coaches as necessary.
- Observe students during practice and competition to help determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
- Establish and maintain professionalism while supervising students and coaches during practice and games.
- Act as a team representative and promote track & field by communicating with parents, visitors, within region, MSHSL, etc.
- Assist with maintaining equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with participants and coaches, and provide motivational support and guidance.
- Encourage and promote booster and parent involvement.

- CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to become certified at a District sponsored training
- 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be available to work varying practice shifts, nights and weekends for events
- Demonstrated ability to teach the development of skills and proper techniques in area of specialty
- Ability to lift equipment
- Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with students, parents and assistant coaches
- Exercises mature judgment and sound decision-making
Based on the Sauk Rapids-Rice Education Association's Master Agreement Schedule C at BA+10 lane at 11% starting at $5,797 up to $7,949; no additional benefits beyond those required by law.
