Track and Field Head Coach (Job )
Location:
Sauk Rapids-Rice High School (Sauk Rapids, MN). Working hours include practices and meets; competitive season runs early March through mid June.
- Develop and implement the track & field program for grades 9-12.
- Instruct participants, oversee safety, meet & practice plans, and supervise coaches.
- Assess skills, teaching and coaching abilities, participant development and motivation.
- Lead directing, communicating, teaching, recruiting, practices, demonstrations, advising, organizing and assessing.
- Handle budgeting and scheduling of practices.
- Collaborate with Activities Director to grow and develop the program.
- Coach and instruct students individually or in groups on rules, regulations, and proper use of equipment and facilities.
- Supervise assistant coaches and oversee their duties.
- Assess student skills, assign teams & positions.
- Develop practice schedules and assign duties to subordinate coaches.
- Observe students during practice and competition to identify improvement needs.
- Maintain professionalism while supervising students and coaches.
- Serve as a team representative, promote track & field to parents, visitors, region, MSHSL.
- Assist with equipment, supplies, uniforms maintenance.
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with participants and coaches, provide motivational support and guidance.
- Encourage booster and parent involvement.
- Coaching experience in track & field.
- Organization skills.
- Supervision experience.
- Passion for track & field.
- Serve as a positive role model for children.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification or ability to become certified at a District sponsored training.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Availability to work varying practice shifts, nights and weekends for events.
- Demonstrated ability to teach skill development and proper techniques in area of specialty.
- Ability to lift equipment.
- Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with students, parents and assistant coaches.
- Practice mature judgment and sound decision-making.
Based on the Sauk Rapids-Rice Education Association's Master Agreement Schedule C at BA+10 lane at 11% starting at $5,797 up to $7,949; no additional benefits beyond those required by law.
