Role OverviewAs a Parts Counter, you are responsible to procure replacement parts and materials necessary for equipment repairs in the most economical and timely manner possible.
Maintain warehouse stock levels and cleanliness. Implement methods of handling parts and materials safely and easily. Work as a team to ensure successful outcomes to shop repairs.
This position is year-round. Typical hours are M-F 6:00am-6:00pm with Saturday, as needed.
Duties and/or Responsibilities- Purchases, stores, and issues spare parts for motor vehicles or equipment.
- Takes inventory of parts and equipment and maintains inventory levels.
- Creates and completes computerized purchase orders.
- Order parts via telephone, email, fax, or online ordering.
- Reconcile packing lists and invoices with part received/prices quoted.
- Stores purchased parts and issues parts to workers upon request.
- Dispatch parts runners as necessary.
- Operate forklift as needed to load and unload cargo.
- Must be self-motivated and a team player able to work with minimum supervision.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive customer relations and be courteous and respectful of others.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
- Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
- Monitor and discuss parts related issues with co-workers and management.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment.
- Answer telephone and if necessary, transfer caller to the correct recipient.
- Ensure OSHA safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Some heavy lifting required, up to 75 pounds at a time.
- Always work safely and take action to prevent all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous parts experience, mechanical experience.
- Computer knowledge and experience.
- Prefer truck and/or heavy equipment knowledge.
- Provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
- Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
