Position
Summary
As a Parts Counter, you are responsible for procuring replacement parts and materials necessary for equipment repairs in the most economical and timely manner possible. Maintain warehouse stock levels and cleanliness. Implement methods of handling parts and materials safely and easily. Work as a team to ensure successful outcomes to shop repairs.
This position is year‑round. Typical hours are M‑F 6:00 am–6:00 pm with Saturday, as needed.
Duties and/or Responsibilities
Purchases, stores, and issues spare parts for motor vehicles or equipment.Takes inventory of parts and equipment and maintains inventory levels.Creates and completes computerized purchase orders.Orders parts via telephone, email, fax, or online ordering.Reconciles packing lists and invoices with parts received/prices quoted.Stores purchased parts and issues parts to workers upon request.Dispatches parts runners as necessary.Operates forklift as needed to load and unload cargo.Is self‑motivated and a team player able to work with minimum supervision.Has good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive customer relations and be courteous and respectful of others.Troubleshoots and problem‑solves situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).Monitors and discusses production problems with co‑workers and managers/supervisors.Monitors and discusses parts‑related issues with co‑workers and management.Wears required personal protective equipment.Answers telephone calls and, if necessary, transfers callers to the correct recipient.Ensures OSHA safety and environmental regulation compliance.Performs some heavy lifting, up to 75 pounds at a time.Always works safely and takes action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements
GED or high school diploma or equivalent.Previous parts experience, mechanical experience.Computer knowledge and experience.Preferred Requirements
Prefer truck and/or heavy equipment knowledge.Provides and maintains proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Communicates effectively (verbal, listening, written) and works with difficult people under high‑stress situations.Is a self‑motivated, team‑player with good interpersonal skills; can maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.Additional Information
