Based in Sauk Rapids, MN with flexibility to work at Winsted, MN depending on project demands.

Shift

Schedule:

1st shift Monday – Friday 7am – 3pm in Sauk Rapids, Monday – Thursday 5am – 3pm in Winsted. Shift Differential: 1st shift – N/A.

We are looking for a skilled Commuter Welder who performs welding tasks autonomously, including the selection and use of appropriate techniques and equipment, and applies these technical skills with minimal supervision. The role involves MIG & TIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication, and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications.

Requirements include successful completion of an internal welding test.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the individual to wear and work in company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE). The candidate must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Additional duties may involve maneuvering large equipment with an overhead crane and/or forklift, and working near equipment and machinery. Ladders may be required. A pre‑employment Physical Work Screening (PWS) will assess these demands. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform GMAW welds – butt, V, single bevel, and fillet welds on carbon steel & stainless steel using .045 and/or .062 diameter wire.
  • Perform GTAW welds – butt, V, single bevel, and fillet welds on carbon steel & stainless steel.
  • Produce welds that pass visual & ultrasonic inspection.
  • Perform repairs that adhere to MMC Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements.
  • Read and understand MMC WPS, select appropriate wire and shielding gas, and weld within WPS parameters.
  • Proficient in print reading and understand weld symbols and welding gauges.
  • Use solid, flux core and metal core wires as needed.
  • Perform carbon arc gouging and eliminate defects.
  • Layout and tack to specifications.
  • Use grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth, grind, or finish parts while adhering to safety standards.
  • Use various machines to fabricate, build, and design products.
  • Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence.
  • Accurately label all parts for routing to next operation.
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required.
  • Enter job data in the production tracking system.
  • Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and products into and out of the work area as required.
  • Ensure the use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPE.
  • Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements.
  • Follow company policies related to safety, cleanliness, attendance, etc.
Qualifications
  • Preferred candidates will have 3 years’ experience in metal fabrication/welding. Successful completion of an internal welding test is mandatory.
  • Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Ability to operate hoists, cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles as needed.
  • Ability to operate various power and hand tools.
  • Experience in using weld positioners, turners, fixtures and equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic shop math functions.
  • Ability to electronically record production information.
  • Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork.
  • Ability to work with others as part of a high-performance team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures.
  • Accurately use tape measure and precision measuring instruments.
