Welder 2 or 3

We are looking for a Welder 2 (more MIG experience) or Welder 3 (expert) to join our team. A Welder is responsible for performing MIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications.

Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory.

Welder 2: $25.03-$29.46 per hour;
Welder 3: $29.76 – 35.33 per hour (Non-Exempt) (In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.) Shift Schedule :
Friday – Sunday, 5AM-5PM Shift Differential : +$2.50/hour

As a Welder 2, you will:

  • Perform these GMAW welds: butt – V – single bevel and fillet welds on carbon steel
  • Produce welds that pass visual inspection
  • Can perform necessary repairs that pass adhere to MMC Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements
  • Demonstrates the ability to weld the above weld joints with either.
    045 and/or.062 diameter wires
  • Read and understand MMC WPS's – select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parameters
  • Proficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gauges
  • Can perform welds using following wire – solid – flux core and metal core as needed.
  • Can weld carbon, stainless steel as needed
  • Perform carbon arc gouging and recognize when any and all defects have been removed
  • Layout and tack to specifications
  • Use grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind or finish parts as needed
  • Use various machines to fabricate, build, and design products.
  • Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence
  • Accurately label all parts for routing to next operation
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required
  • Enter job data in production tracking system
  • Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as required
  • Must be AWS GMAW certified
  • Welders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certification within 14 days of employment – up to 3 attempts
  • Welders employed with Millerbernd Circular Products, Sauk Rapids are required to obtain and maintain ASME certification requirements
  • Ensure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPE
  • Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements

As a Welder 3 you will:

Safety

  • Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment
  • Acts as a resident expert within the team on safety; typically, this role would not incur any safety violations or incidents
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly

Quality

  • Visually inspects completed welds to determine acceptance to given specifications
  • Achieves a UT (ultrasonic testing) pass rate of 85% (calculated over a 6-month period from total number of structures welded)
  • Achieves less than 10% visual testing failures (calculated over a 6-month period from total number of structures welded)
  • No more than 0.5 inches per earned hour
  • Can weld any section with little to no visual defects

Delivery

  • Reads, understands and executes Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS); assists less experienced welders with process interpretation
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded
  • Joins, fabricates and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques
  • Regularly welds on material 3/16" or greater
  • Fits (tacks) any size and complexity
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications or diagrams to determine appropriate welding process
  • Certified to weld on any area of the pole or cylinder/ring as the business requires
  • Performs the welding and/or fabrication within the standard time; average productivity ≥ 75%
