** Now Hiring:
Drill Operators – Anderson Underground
** Anderson Underground is hiring experienced Drill Operators to support traveling underground utility construction crews. We’re looking for operators who can safely run HDD / directional drilling equipment, work closely with locators, support bore setup, and help keep underground utility projects moving safely and efficiently.
* Schedule:
10 days on / 4 days off + Week 1:
Monday-Friday + Week 2:
Monday-Thursday +
Hours:
generally averages 50-55 hours per week, but can vary depending on work, weather, and project needs + Work days are typically Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays when customers allow
* Travel: flights in and out are paid for, and transportation is provided + Per diem: $175 per working day
* Pay: $25-$32/HR

Job Duties:
*** Operate HDD / directional drilling equipment
* Set up and complete bores for underground utility installation
* Work closely with locator to follow bore path, depths, pitches, and utility crossings
* Support installation of fiber, telecom, gas, water, sewer, and other underground utilities
* Assist with loading, unloading, and moving equipment and materials
* Operate support equipment as needed, including mini excavators, skid steers, trenchers, or hydro-vacs
* Read and follow prints, utility maps, bore plans, and jobsite markings
* Work around existing underground utilities and follow damage prevention procedures
* Assist with potholing, hand digging, and exposing utilities when needed
* Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
* Communicate clearly with foremen, supervisors, locators, and crew members
* Follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures

* What we’re looking for:
*** HDD / directional drilling experience required
* Experience operating Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar drill rigs preferred
* Class A CDL preferred
* Ability to read prints, follow bore plans, and work around existing utilities
* Strong communication with locator and crew during boring operations
* Ability to safely work in congested utility areas
* Comfortable assisting with labor duties when needed
* Safety-minded and able to follow jobsite procedures
* Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Able to pass a background check and drug screening
This is a great fit for someone with HDD drilling experience who understands underground utility work, communicates well with locators, and is comfortable traveling with a production-focused crew.
