What We're Looking For:
Master Trade Services, located in Sauk Rapids, MN, is currently seeking a full-time HVAC Technician for Multi-family properties who is experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated. The position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC) systems within a multifamily apartment community. This position plays a critical role in ensuring resident comfort, maintaining equipment efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall property operations.
Job Responsibilities: (Including but not limited to)
HVAC Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose, service, and repair residential HVAC equipment, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, PTAC units, rooftop units, and ventilation systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems according to company schedules and manufacturer recommendations.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues.
- Replace defective components such as motors, capacitors, contractors, thermostats, compressors, and control boards.
- Inspect and test system performance to ensure proper operation and energy efficiency.
- Respond to HVAC-related service requests in occupied and vacant apartments.
Apartment Maintenance Support
- Assist with apartment turnover preparation, including HVAC inspections and repairs.
- Change air filters and clean HVAC coils, condensate lines, and associated equipment.
- Support general maintenance activities when needed, including light plumbing, electrical, and appliance repairs.
- Maintain common area HVAC systems and mechanical rooms.
Resident Service
- Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service to residents.
- Communicate repair needs, timelines, and system operation information clearly to residents and management.
- Ensure work areas are left clean and safe following service completion.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Properly handle refrigerants and hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs, and inventory documentation.
- Follow company safety policies and emergency response procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and company vehicle
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project success
On-Call Responsibilities
- Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to after-hours HVAC and maintenance emergencies.
- Respond to emergency service requests in a timely manner.
Requirements
Who We Are Looking For (Ideal Candidate):
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of HVAC service experience.
- EPA Section 608 Certification.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, refrigeration cycles, and HVAC controls.
- Ability to diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems independently.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen.
Preferred
- Experience in multifamily housing, apartments, or property management.
- HVAC technical school certification or associate degree.
- NATE Certification or equivalent industry certifications.
- Universal EPA Certification.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
- Work in mechanical rooms, attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to respond to emergency calls outside regular business hours.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of HVAC installation and repair best practices.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple service requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with maintenance software and mobile work order systems.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
