Flagger​/Laborer; Seasonal

ROLE OVERVIEW

Seasonal team member responsible for safely controlling vehicular traffic through construction sites, as well as completing various laborer and small equipment operation tasks to produce quality asphalt and concrete projects. The season runs from April through November, with the possibility of extension into December.

• Safely control movement of motoring public through construction site.
• Discuss traffic routing plans and location of control points with supervisor.
• Direct traffic movement using sign, hand, and flag signals.
• Warn construction workers when drivers fail to heed signals to prevent accidents.
• Inform drivers of detour routes through construction sites.
• Record license numbers of traffic control violations for police.
• Give hand marker to last driver in line when clearing traffic for reverse flow.
• Monitor and discuss traffic flow problems with work crew and supervisor.
• Measure distance from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch tight line.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment to conform to grade specifications.
• Level earth using pick or shovel (aggregate or asphalt).
• Level blacktop using lute.
• Perform laborer duties as needed.
• Operate small powered hand tools.
• Operate small equipment including bobcat, tractor, roller, or move between sites.
• Perform maintenance—lubricating, fueling, and cleaning—and operate small equipment such as bobcat, tractor, jackhammer, roller, pickup truck, air compressor, tractor/packer, steel drum, or rubber tire roller.
• Shovel excess material away from crushers, screens, or wash plant units as needed.
• Hook and unhook small trailer to pickup truck.
• Fill sandbags.
• Ensure OSHA, safety, and environmental regulation compliance.
• Perform other duties assigned.

• General education—grammar and arithmetic skills, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure and an acceptable driving record.
• Basic equipment maintenance and operation skills.

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and Saturdays as needed.
• Ability to operate skid steer for cleanup of materials.
• Ability to drive truck/skid steer trailer combinations to transport skid steers and other equipment and materials between sites (CDL license).

COMPENSATION: $22.00 per hour
