ROLE

OVERVIEW

Apply early for our seasonal roles—interviews are beginning soon! The season kicks off in April and runs through November, with the possibility of extending into December. As a seasonal team member, you’ll enjoy winters off to travel, hunt, fish, or pursue activities you love—while still keeping your benefits all year long.

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining a tack truck to spray bituminous asphalt cement oil on roadway surface.

Typical hours are Monday – Friday 4:00 AM – 6:00 PM with Saturday as needed. Hours are subject to change based on weather and customer demand.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely and properly operate truck equipped with oil or bituminous emulsions.
  • Connect hose from storage tank to truck tank and move lever to fill pressure tank with bituminous liquid.
  • Regulate burners to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump.
  • Drive truck at constant speed.
  • Complete load tickets.
  • Assist construction crews while waiting to unload.
  • Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch.
  • Inventory and order tack.
  • Clean tack nozzles.
  • Barricade commercial parking lots.
  • Perform daily equipment walk‑around and site inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) on oil truck.
  • Assist crews with flagging as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and problem‑solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with coworkers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
    • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self‑motivated, team‑player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    • General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
    • CDL Class B license in accordance with all state and federal DOT/FMCSA regulations.
    • Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.
    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
    • CDL Class A driver’s license.
    • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.
    • Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, flow‑boy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck.
    COMPENSATION

    $26.00 – $29.00 per hour and up depending on experience.
