Winpak Portion Packaging is seeking a Material Handler to join the Production Dept based out of our Sauk Village and/or Chicago Heights facilities. In this role you will safely and efficiently service the production lines by supplying or removing materials, in a timely manner, to ensure no downtime is incurred and inventory remains accurate.

. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting production operations by safely and efficiently supplying materials to the production lines and removing finished or excess materials. Your attention to accuracy and timeliness will help ensure continuous production with minimal downtime and maintain precise inventory control. - Verify and understand material requirements for assigned jobs.
- Obtain necessary materials from the warehouse or request them from the remote warehouse as needed.
- Prepare materials for production (e.g., cleaning, unwrapping, labeling).
- Safely and promptly deliver materials to machines, ensuring continuous operation and minimizing downtime.
- Monitor machines and replenish materials as needed to support uninterrupted production.
- Accurately document material inspections, usage, and assignments in a clear and legible manner.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory row tags.
- Retrieve carts, unused or rejected materials, and other necessary items efficiently.
- Properly wrap, weigh, label, and store any unused or rejected materials.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift.
- Maintain a valid forklift operator certification and operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Complete and document forklift
DOCUMENTATION at the start of each shift. - Immediately report any safety, material, machine, tooling, quality, or process issues to a supervisor.
- Manage time effectively to reduce downtime, optimize production, and complete cleaning, inspections, and documentation within the work shift.
- Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Adhere to all personal hygiene and dress code requirements, including appropriate hair coverings.
- Report any food packaging safety concerns directly to plant management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- In the event of absence, responsibilities will be delegated to an alternate qualified Material Handler.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP):
Adhere to all company GMP policies to ensure the safe handling and integrity of food packaging materials. Maintain Sanitation Standards:
Support and follow sanitation procedures to uphold cleanliness and reduce contamination risks in all 영역들의 work areas.
Quality Assurance Support:(null) Handle and inspect materials in a way that supports the plant’s quality objectives, preventing mix-ups, contamination, or damage.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift experience.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs regularly. Walking/standing approximately serrat 12 hours per day.
- The Material Handler position is 100% onsite, working on the production floor.
- 12‑hour COP shift rotation:
- Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday & Saturday
- Week 2 - Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday
The compensation range is $18.20‑25.35 and is provided as a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
