Description:

This position primarily works in an outpatient setting and may float to acute care as needed.
Activities focus on patient care and utilize assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with therapy standards and physician orders.
Responsibilities include evaluating the patient's function through formal and informal testing to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
Developing a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient’s tolerance to the treatment plan is essential.
Submitting a written treatment regime as part of the authorized plan of treatment and updating the plan of care as needed is required.
Co-signing verbal orders received from support staff as necessary is part of the role.
A schedule of treatment will be devised that is frequency and duration specific to the patient and discussed with them and their support network.
Educating patients, families, and caregivers regarding conditions, treatment alternatives, prognosis, and rationale through various interventions is vital.

Additional duties include supervising Physical Therapist Assistants, Aides, and students as per regulatory standards.
Recommending and securing adaptive or supportive equipment based on assessments is part of the responsibilities.
Documenting patient responses to treatment and changes in condition must adhere to compliance and regulatory policies.
Daily documentation necessary for procedures must be completed in accordance with policies and regulations.
Providing effective treatment interventions to facilitate or restore optimal functioning specific to the patient care area is required.
Educating patients and families in home education programs using relevant teaching methods is crucial.
Demonstrating effective communication with internal and external customers to maximize quality of patient care is expected.
Promoting education and development among staff and other healthcare providers is encouraged.
Participating in team conferences and meetings and promoting physical therapy within the community is part of the role.
Maintaining confidentiality of patient information in accordance with policies and procedures is mandatory.
Handling exposure to stressful situations, including public contact and trauma, is a possibility.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with regular attendance is required.
