Roles & Responsibilities
  • Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care in a fast-paced ED environment
  • Obtain patient history, record vital signs, and perform focused clinical assessments
  • Initiate immediate, potentially lifesaving interventions independently when a physician is not present
  • Provide skilled care to both acutely ill and nonacute patients, tailoring interventions to each need
  • Perform a variety of nursing procedures and assist physicians with more complex interventions
  • Process and follow up on physician/provider orders accurately and in a timely manner
  • Provide clear discharge and follow-up instructions, ensuring patients and families understand next steps
  • Answer ambulance radios and give appropriate prehospital care directions without assistance
  • Participate actively in care planning and revise treatment plans to improve patient outcomes

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Active Michigan RN license (LARA and/or Nursys verification required)
  • Minimum 2+ years of ER nursing experience — required
  • Active American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications — required
  • Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification — required
  • Active Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification — required
  • Current skills checklist (within 1 year) relevant to ER practice — required
  • Two supervisory reference forms from the past two years — required
  • Comfort with Epic EMR and experience working in rural healthcare settings is a plus
  • Travel experience highly preferred; facility will not consider candidates within a 100-mile radius of the site
Knowledge & Skills
  • Triage and rapid patient assessment

  • Prehospital care coordination and ambulance radio communication
