Location: Sault Ste. Marie

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to oversee nursing operations at a 106-bed skilled nursing facility
    . This leadership role requires prior Director of Nursing (DON) or equivalent supervisory experience in a skilled nursing facility (no exceptions). A $20,000 sign-on bonus is available (limited time, two-year payout).
  • The Director of Nursing manages the facility's nursing program in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act, state and federal regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Bonus Eligible: Yes
  • Travel Required: Yes, Occasionally
Basic Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing BSN Preferred
    .
  • Active RN license in the state of employment.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing, or equivalent supervisory role in a skilled nursing facility.
Job Functions
  • Conduct daily rounds to assess resident care and staff performance.
  • Oversee hiring, training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions for nursing staff.
  • Develop and manage staffing schedules to meet facility needs.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in facility committees.
  • Monitor department budget, control expenses, and maintain fiscal responsibility.
  • Investigate and resolve resident, family, and employee concerns promptly.
  • Facilitate staff development through training, competency evaluations, and recognition programs.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Serve as acting Administrator in their absence.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on pharmacy, dietary, and physician consultations.

  • Excellent communication with residents, families, and staff at all levels.
  • Ability to make quick, decisive actions in emergencies.
  • Proficient in organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of state/federal nursing regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
