Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER)

Sault Ste. Marie, MI

Contract | Nights | Onsite

• Triage patients, obtain patient history and vital signs, and perform nursing assessments; intervene appropriately and promptly and participate in care planning.
• Provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the authorized plan of care and accepted standards of nursing practice, including care for both acutely ill and non-acute patients.
• Process physician and provider orders accurately, completely, and in a timely manner; follow up on medication changes and order clarifications.
• Act independently to initiate immediate care in the absence of a physician during life-threatening situations, including answering ambulance radio communications and providing appropriate prehospital care orders.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and facilitate or suggest changes to improve patient outcomes in collaboration with the care team.
• Perform multiple nursing procedures utilizing both complex and simple skills; assist physicians with procedures and provide physical and psychological comfort to patients and families, including discharge and follow-up instructions.

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience required.
• Active Michigan RN license (verified via LARA and/or Nursys) required.
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification required.
• Active American Heart Association (AHA) PALS certification required.
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
• Active Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification required.
• Current ER Skills Checklist (within the past year) and 2 supervisory references (within the past 2 years) required at time of submission.

• Prior travel nursing experience highly preferred.
• Experience working in a rural or critical access hospital setting.
• Familiarity with Epic EMR.

• Work at a designated Level IV Trauma Center recognized as a high-reliability organization, committed to quality improvement and patient safety in a rural medicine setting.
• Opportunity to work in a dynamic Emergency Room environment utilizing sophisticated equipment and advanced clinical skills.
