Location: Sault Ste. Marie

NOJAC (Northern Ontario Joint Apprenticeship Council) together with the IBEW local 1687 are seeking motivated and detail-oriented 309A electrical apprentices to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands‑on experience in the electrical field while working under the guidance of skilled professionals. A 309A apprentice will assist in various electrical tasks, including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial and industrial settings.
Responsibilities
Assist experienced 309A journeyperson electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment.
Utilize hand tools and power tools to complete tasks efficiently and safely.
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand project requirements.
Support the installation of low voltage systems as directed.
Follow safety protocols and adhere to industry standards while working on job sites.
Participate in training sessions to enhance electrical knowledge and skills.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
Grade 12 English or French.
Grade 12 Mathematics.
Grade 11 or 12 Science (Physics, Chemistry or other) and/or Trade Course(s).
Graduated from High School.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
Previous experience as a 309A apprentice electrician or in a related electrical field is not required but is an asset.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

NOJAC has an annual intake process, applications are accepted from February 1 to November 30 every year and those selected are invited to write the NOJAC General Knowledge Test held each January.
