Opportunity

We’re seeking a dependable and safety-focused Shop Supervisor to help lead our shop operations and support a strong, collaborative team environment. Working alongside the Shop Manager, you’ll oversee daily workflow, coordinate maintenance and repairs, assign priorities, and act as the key communication link between shop staff and operational teams. This role is ideal for a certified 310T or 421A technician with proven leadership experience who excels at organization, communication, and maintaining high safety and performance standards.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Work alongside the Shop Manager to assist in delegating, prioritizing, and assigning workload for mechanics and shop staff
  • Safely operate various vehicles, equipment, and tools
  • Oversee and assign minor and major repairs on equipment, including but not limited to trucks, trailers, power-operated equipment and hand tools
  • Communication point for shop personnel and project managers
  • Monitor shop inventory and coordinate the ordering of parts as needed
  • Responsible for keeping accurate computerized records of time and parts used on work order tasks
  • Assist in the development of transportation maintenance and repair procedures
  • Direct, instruct, and work with department staff and other co-workers on vehicle/equipment repair and maintenance issues
  • Work with individual vehicle/equipment operators to understand and solve complaints and concerns regarding proper vehicle/equipment maintenance and operation
  • Reinforce compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) etc
  • Work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required to meet operational and project demands
  • Travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including occasional out-of-town assignments with overnight stays
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
You Are a Good Fit If You Have Required
  • 310T Truck and Coach Certification, 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician Certification OR equivalent experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience working as a 310T or 421A mechanic
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a supervisory or management role, including working in a unionized environment
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
Considered an Asset
  • Experience in the concrete or construction industry
  • Experience in the municipal snow removal industry
  • A or D class driver’s license
Skills & Abilities
  • Successfully passed comprehensive pre-employment third party testing requirements (drug and alcohol testing and a Criminal Background Check (CPIC) and any other requirements they impose on contractors)
  • Ability to monitor and review equipment repairs
  • Ability to understand, identify and apply provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • Leadership skills including understanding delegation, conflict resolution, and motivating the team and building positive relationships with staff
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)…
