What you'll do:

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily delivery operations, scheduling drivers and equipment, and ensuring customer orders are delivered safely, accurately, and on time. This role manages delivery schedules, prepares next-day transportation plans, coordinates fleet and equipment availability, and works closely with Warehouse, Operations, Drivers, and Customer Service teams to support efficient logistics operations.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, knowledgeable about local delivery operations, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced building materials environment while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Delivery Scheduling and Dispatch
  • Schedule and coordinate daily deliveries and pickups for assigned customers and delivery areas
  • Plan, organize, and assign Drivers, Helpers, trucks, forklifts, and other delivery resources to maximize operational efficiency
  • Review customer delivery requirements, jobsite conditions, order priorities, and equipment needs when developing delivery schedules
  • Prepare next-day delivery plans and communicate assignments to Warehouse, Drivers, and Operations teams
  • Coordinate first-run and second-run deliveries based on customer needs and operational capacity
  • Monitor daily delivery activity and adjust schedules when customer needs, traffic, weather, equipment, or other conditions change
  • Maintain familiarity with the local delivery area to support efficient routing and scheduling
Load and Warehouse Coordination
  • Coordinate with Warehouse personnel to ensure next-day orders are picked, staged, and prepared for loading
  • Distribute work assignments to forklift operators and other warehouse personnel supporting delivery preparation
  • Communicate delivery plans, load priorities, and equipment requirements to Warehouse and Operations teams
  • Verify delivery schedules are aligned with available trucks, drivers, helpers, and material‑handling equipment
  • Assist with resolving missing materials, incomplete loads, or other issues that could affect scheduled deliveries
  • Support warehouse operations and material handling when necessary
Fleet and Equipment Coordination
  • Schedule trucks, forklifts, and other operational equipment for routine maintenance and service
  • Coordinate road service, tire service, forklift maintenance, and other equipment repairs as needed
  • Ensure safe and reliable vehicles and forklifts are available to meet operational requirements
  • Communicate equipment outages or service needs and adjust delivery plans accordingly
  • Monitor equipment availability to minimize disruptions to daily delivery operations
  • Coordinate with vendors or service providers regarding equipment maintenance when required
Driver and Workforce Scheduling
  • Prepare daily crew sheets with employee reporting times, routes, and equipment assignments
  • Coordinate schedules for Drivers, Helpers, forklift operators, and other assigned transportation personnel
  • Maintain employee vacation and time‑off information when developing transportation schedules
  • Adjust staffing plans based on delivery volume, customer requirements, and employee availability
  • Communicate schedule changes and daily expectations clearly to transportation and warehouse personnel
Transportation and Compliance
  • Manage truck loading and delivery activities in accordance with DOT requirements and applicable company procedures
  • Maintain awareness of vehicle capacities, load requirements, route restrictions, and delivery equipment needs
